Took a much-needed break from the same four walls and hiked a bit on the Great Allegheny Passage bike trail near Ohiopyle.
Bike trail hike
Absolutely gorgeous day, so we took advantage of it, taking a walk on the Great Allegheny Passage bike trail at Ohiopyle. Too cold for bikes so we swapped them out for our hiking boots. Such incredibly blue skies.
According to Mental Floss, I may be neurotic
According to this Mental Floss article, neurotic people may be more likely to see faces in things. Yes. That’s happened to me once or twice.
Mental Health Day on the Bike Trail
I work at a computer in a room without a view. Well, there’s a view, but it’s through a window that’s behind me, and I don’t get much done if I sit and stare out of it as much as I’d like. So we decided the day was warm enough, and the rain was crossing its legs, and we weren’t getting …
GAP bike trail: Confluence to Pinkerton Tunnel
Today’s bike ride on the Great Allegheny Passage took us from Confluence, PA to the Pinkerton Tunnel (please consider donating to get this tunnel back into usable condition) on the other side of Fort Hill, PA. And then, when we got back, the bonus came in the form of an incredibly delicious black bean burger chaser at the Lucky Dog Café.
Smiley Grate
Another pic for my “Faces in Things” folder. Here’s a happy smiley grate on the sidewalk outside the Rockwood Mill Shoppes and Opera House in Rockwood, Pennsylvania.
Big Savage Tunnel (Great Allegheny Passage bike trail)
Went for a bike ride on the Great Allegheny Passage today. We started in Meyersdale and rode through the Big Savage Tunnel. This is the Keystone Viaduct, which is closer to the Meyersdale end. And here’s the entrance to the tunnel heading east. That teeny tiny little light at the far end is the other end. It’s 3,294.6 feet long, …
And then a rainbow happened
On the way home tonight a very bright rainbow happened —with purple, which never happens. And if that wasn’t enough, it became a double!
Bike the Great Allegheny Passage
Biked the Great Allegheny Passage from Rockwood, PA to the Pinkerton Tunnel, near Fort Hill. (The standard action shot.) “Pinkerton 1911” engraved above the tunnel. Inside the tunnel itself. They’re raising funds to open it. Right now it’s closed with a path to get around that extends over a mile. Every dollar donated will be matched with an additional $17. …
Bike Trail!
Our first excursion on the Great Allegheny Passage this year! We started in Ohiopyle and rode to Ramcat (Pennsylvania). That’s only 18 miles, but considering we haven’t ridden since (I think) last September, I’m satisfied with it. Beautiful, beautiful day.
I’m seeing things
I’m seeing faces in things again. This time it was a vampire in the shower curtain. Just in time for Halloween.
