There’s just something about letters that has always fascinated me. I love them when they’re drawn by hand, and I love them when they’re not. Maybe it’s the constant dance between the harmony of a family and the variety of individual letter shapes that makes lettering so irresistible. Or the fact that a single letter can be created in a multitude of styles and still be recognizable and readable. Or that all those shapes together don’t even need actual words to project context and personality. It’s crazy, if you think about it.
Although it wasn’t the career path that found me, it’s hard to stay away from lettering for long. So as an illustrator and designer and admirer of lettering with distinct personality, here are my ventures into font design and hand lettering.
